Choosing your web hosting company can seem like a daunting task, and indeed, if you choose poorly (like I have done in the past), your life can be miserable, and your customers will have a poor experience with you - and leave. for good.
So what do you need to look for in a web hosting company? Here are some of the most important factors you should consider:
- Availability - look into their history, talk with them, make sure they have backup data centers (not just backup servers). Remember, if your site isn’t available, it isn’t making any money for you!
- Performance - nothing gets visitors to your site to leave faster than a site that is slow. And let’s face it, we now have very short attention spans and virtually no patience. If it’s slow, they go. Check them out. Check out their competition.

Let me count the ways that it wasn’t, and they made my life miserable in ways I hadn’t even dreamed of. And worst of all, absolutely no ability to connect with a human. Never.
