Twitter Tools…”Automatically Tweet” your BLOG Posts!

Hello Everyone,

I’d like to introduce all of you “Twitter” fans to a new tool for your BLOG that will “Automatically” “Tweet” your most recent posts to your following on “Twitter”. www.twitter.com/toddackerman. This tool is called “Twitter Tools” and it is a free PlugIn from our friends at WordPress. You can download it here: www.wordpress.org/extend/plugins/twitter-tools/ This PlugIn works in tandem with the “Twitter Widget” that you see on the right side bar of this BLOG that I discussed in my previous post. First you will want to download this widget here: www.twitter.com/widgets

Simply download the Twitter Tools PlugIn to your desk top, and then upload it using the traditional method with your FTP tool to your public_html>content>Plugins folder. From there follow these directions:

1. Locate the new “Twitter Tool” PlugIn at the bottom of your Plugins page in your wp-admin area.

2. Go to the right of the listed PlugIn and click on “Activate”.

3. Now go to “Settings” at the top right section of your wp_admin page, and click on it, and then click on “Twitter Tools”

4. You will want to “Test” your Twitter login information, so type in your Twitter User Name, and Password in the spaces provided. Then click on “Test Login Info”. If all is good you will get an “approved” reply. If not, check your Twitter Login info. and try again. If your Login info is correct, you will pass this “Test”.

5. Now go to the 3 fields on the left and select your preferences, either “Yes” or “No”, but I suggest that you click on “No” for the…”Create a Blog Post for each of your Tweets” unless you want your Blog Flooded with your Tweets that may or may not be relevant to your BLOG’s theme. For example…Do you want a post that says…”Good Morning All”? Get what I mean?

6. COMPLETELY Fore go anything in the “Test Area” as it may cause problems (per the “warning” given) n the page.

7. Select a category on your BLOG where you want your Tweets to be available for future reference. I have created a category called “Twitter” and have entered that in the “Category” bar.

8. Next, select the “Author” for your Tweets

9. Now decide if you want to Exclude @reply tweets in your sidebar, digests and created Blog posts? I have selected “No”.

10. Then select the number of Tweets you want to display in your side bar. I have chosen 3.

11. You have the option to create Tweets from your side bar, or not. I have chosen “Yes” as it saves me from having to go to my Twitter page to do this, saving me time.

12. I have left the next field set at the default which is to use “JQuery” as the Java Script (JS) Library to use. You don’t need to be concerned about this field, but you can always do a search to learn more about “JQuery” and “Java Script”.

13. Now you have the choice to give “Twitter Tools” credit for their “Free” donation to our “Fraternity”. I have chosen “Yes”!

And that’s it! Remember to install your Twitter Widget before setting up “Twitter Tools” or you really won’t enjoy the full functionality of this great “PlugIn”.
