Blogging and Job Hunting
The front page of the January 26th edition of The Christian Science Monitor newspaper has a teaser question about blogging and hunting for jobs that catches the eye of the Duchess of Earle, so she heads for the designated page. Given the Duchess’ own efforts at blogging, she finds it an interesting article, balanced in presenting the views of those that advocate blogging to find new employment and those that think it’s a complete waste of time. She finds the statement made by reporter Marilyn Gardner and the quote of interviewee Lorne Epstein (author of You’re Hired: Interview Skills to Get the Job) particularly true: “…no one should underestimate the work involved. “To build your blog base, you have to keep it relevant and update it regularly,” Mr. Epstein says. “Blogging is a job, a responsibility that is continual. Even to blog once a week in a substantial way can take hours.” ”
But then Mr. Epstein continues, ” And it could take a year before your blog gets any traction.” However true the Duchess finds the first part of that quote, she does take with a little grain of salt the latter. For her, experience has taught her that it can be otherwise, because of the fact that this past year’s time spent in iNetGlobal/AdPacs meetings and MIT (Millionaire Intensive Training) classrooms with Steve Renner, have helped short-circuit that time frame. One certainly must take the time to blog - and it can sometimes Cleocin seem to take forever to compose a post, but one must also learn how to get all that effort noticed by the search engines, so that it doesn’t take so long to get indexed. That’s where all this internet marketing training has certainly come into play. It makes her heart grateful all over again for what’s she’s learned in this past year and for what she and her business partner, Merryn Flavell, are assembling in the way of services for those that want to market themselves and/or their businesses online. That’s why they’re forming iNetRocket.com, a soon-to-be-launched membership website for those needing assistance in getting their online activites going.
The idea here is that, in today’s world, one needs a presence on the internet and the content of that presence should be carefully set forth because it can influence one’s ability to interact in the marketplace on many levels - even in just getting an appointment for a job interview, as Ms. Gardner points out in her article. The branding of one’s self online is a hugely important tool - whether or not one is specifically seeking a job.
For those of you that are “in the boat” of looking for a new employer (and, these days, it’s a mighty big boat - and growing larger by the day) and weighing your options on how best to proceed, the Duchess invites you to take a look at the complete article on The Christian Science Monitor’s website. And, just in case you choose to start a blog and you’d like some assistance in getting going, she also invites you to watch for the coming notices about the launch of iNetRocket. Better still, she invites you to write her at contact@duchessofearle.com and get on our pre-launch registration list, since only a limited number of people will be accepted each month.
That wraps things up for the moment. The Duchess signs off with a warmly grateful heart for all she has learned, all the progress of the past year and all the promise of the year that is unfolding before her. Her final words for now: Please join us on the iNetGlobal webcast this evening at 7:30 CST (-6 GMT). When you click on that link, scroll down the page for the link to the webcast and use the password: imtrain Welcome Aboard! - and tell them the Duchess sent you!
